Rev. Milton Brunson and Thompson Community Choir "My Mind is Made Up"

Rev. Milton Brunson and Thompson Community Choir "My Mind is Made Up"

Now, this song is NOT gospel music set apart. Rev. Miltion Brunson is an old time gospel singer and composer who has been around as long as the other old school gospel singers and he knows this was not what gospel music was supposed to be. This, ladies and gentleman is the start of gospel music turning away from God in the 1990's and unto the cares of this world, namely the money aspect.

All of this clowning around, dancing and totally 'in the flesh-ness', is what has got us to the point where we are now. No one corrected this behavior and if fact this is what they intended to do.

Check out the keyboardist. See video HERE

Mississippi Mass Choir "This Morning When I Rose"

Mississippi Mass Choir "This Morning When I Rose"

Now, this song is undoubtedly a traditional song from a tradition gospel choir. Mississippi Mass Choir is known for being one of the most traditional choirs from back in the day. We see the choir is on point and having fun in the Lord. I do have to say that some of them could have toned it down with the clowning around in the choir stand but overall it is better than what out there now.

Enjoy!

Georgia Mass Choir "Joy"- Written by Kirk Franklin, Believe it Or Not

Georgia Mass Choir "Joy" Believe it Or Not Written by Kirk Franklin

This song is by Georgia Mass Choir even if you don't believe Kirk Franklin wrote and song on this song. I can see how gospel music was starting to get a bit 'flip' in this song. I can't believe churches and preachers allowed him to be become so carnal in the church. Kirk Franklin had been directing choirs for years before he turned hip hop. But for some reason everyone went along with his new sound and embraced it like they couldn't wait to 'get down in the church'.

Well, this is NOT an example of gospel music set apart because of all I mentioned above.

Check it out for yourself!

Tramaine Hawkins "What Shall I Do"

Tramaine Hawkins "What Shall I Do"

This song actually blessed me one day years ago. I was living in a bad situation and just didn't know what to do. I remember going to the christian book store in Berkeley, Ca. (actually very near Tramaine Hawkins' late grandfather's church) and bought the cassette version of this album with this song on it.

When I listened to the album, this song, "What Shall I Do", spoke loud and clear to me. I needed a word to get me out of my current situation and it blessed me to make the right move and rely on God.
This song blessed me years ago and maybe you are going through something and are asking "What Shall I Do?". Well, take a listen to this song. It shall bless you!
Enjoy!

The Mighty Clouds of Joy "I Made a Step"

The Mighty Clouds of Joy "I Made a Step"

This will move you if nothing else will! Another quartet gospel group that's been around for at least 50 years. What you youngsters know about this one?! LOL

If you were born anytime after the 1990's, you may not even know this group or this traditional style of gospel music. But let me give you a tip: this is what real gospel music is all about. What you hear today is watered down and fake. Get a taste of what you have been missing. If any of you know who the Mighty Clouds of Joy are, then enjoy this treat!

The Canton Spirituals "I Want You To Move"

The Canton Spirituals "I Want You To Move"

This is some great gospel music right here! The Canton Spirituals are one of the most known quartet gospel singing groups of all time. They have always had a consistent traditional sound that has blessed many people. I have always appreciated the old time sound they have because you can't help but enjoy the music for what it is.  Enjoy!

Rev. Timothy Wright "You Must Come In At The Door"

I love this song. Rev. Timothy Wright was an extraordinary singer, songwriter and composer. He made some very memorable gospel songs that many cherish to this day. Though we know he dabbled on the hip hop side of gospel music, we want to try and remember the anointed music he created.  Now, this is real gospel music! Enjoy!
