Gospel Great Albertina Walker and Her Song "I'm Still Here"
If you've been through anything, this song tells it all. If you thought you would never make it through your situation, God was there. Whenever you need a word from God, there is always a song that can testify to what you have been through.
This song, "I'm Still Here" by the late Albertina Walker means so much to me because I was homeless for nearly 2 years and this song nurtured and blessed me so. When God blessed me and my family off the streets, this song was my anthem. I had made it- from sleeping in my car; working and hiding it from my co workers; praying to God to take the spirit of suicide out of my mind.
God is real and if it had not been for this song to encourage me, I don't know what my state of mind would have been like.
Thank you for hearing my testimony. Albertina Walker was a great gospel singer and she never changed with the new ways of gospel music. She was true to her music and true to her walk with God.
Still Anointed: "Trust Me" By Gospel Singer Richard Smallwood and Vision
This is one gospel singer who seems to never move to the left or right in his music. He continues to move forward and upwards. Richard Smallwood is a dynamic composer and producer of gospel music that gives us the gospel sound but incorporates the beautiful melodies of a symphony. Richard Smallwood has done it again in his new album, "Promises" and hit single "Trust Me".
He did an interview recently where he admitted he had not wrote a song in 5 years. He thought it was over for him but to God be the glory, he is not finished.
Aretha Franklin Singing Song: "Bridge Over Troubled Waters"
We found this song as a remake from Aretha Franklin. We are not sure if she meant it to be a gospel song, but we all know how Aretha Franklin can sing any song and probably not intend it to be gospel. We know that because gospel truly flows in her veins, she just can't help it.
Song: "Lord Do It" By a Talented Young Man, Eustice Matthew Williams
We found this young man playing an old Rev. James Cleveland song, "Lord Do It" on the piano. Wow what talent. You can't even get young folks to play a tune from the old songs.
"If Jesus Can't Fix It": The Late Rev. James Moore and Mississippi Mass Choir
This song was an all time favorite and if you know anything about the late Rev. James Moore, you'd know he could sing "Mary had a little Lamb" and have somebody falling out.
So, this is the first of our showcase of "Gospel Music Set Apart". Notice the symbolism of the holy sounds of a choir that could sing a song with clarity, obedience and anointing. And James Moore... we don't have words for his style except... incredible.
We hope you enjoy it.
